Don't lose hope or be afraid because aside from the ongoing discoveries in modern medicine, the chance of recovery can be significantly increased by a daily diet of foods known to be rich in cancer-fighting nutrients. These foods are aptly called 'super-foods" and there are many testimonies on their successes as cancer fighters.

The first step to take is to assess the current diet and compare them with what are known as cancer-fighting nutrients. Is your diet rich in fiber? Are there enough vegetables, fruits, pure fruit juices ? Furthermore, there should be an abundance of foods rich in antioxidants like vitamins A,C and E. Antioxidants are said to provide significant protection against some types of cancer.

It's not enough that these are found in the daily diet. The quantity of the intake is very important for foods rich in phytochemicals ( found in dark , bright colored foods), antioxidants, vitamins A,C,E and high-fiber foods to help fight against rectal and colon cancers.

Beans are among the highly recommended "super foods" together with cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, and cauliflower., that are high in fiber as well as good suppliers of phytochemicals, These cruciferous vegetables are reported to have stopped the growth of prostate cancer cells in mice. Cabbage can supply almost half of a person's daily vitamin C requirement aside from being helpful in fighting colon cancer. Broccoli is also reported by researchers to contain isothiocyanates, which is a prevention agent for bladder cancer.

Can the colorful carrots be left behind as a "superfood" ? It's high on the list because of its rich supply of beta-carotene ( vitamin A ) , phytochemicals and fiber.

Eating dark, green leafy vegetables are also high on the list of 'Superfoods". This group include such vegetables like the romaine lettuce and spinach which are high in substances that fight cancer like carotenoids, lutein and fiber,

Tomatoes are also "superfoods" by virtue of its being significant sources of .important vitamins and lycopene which also fights heart disease

Watermelon, another superfood, is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. In fact, you can get around 80% of your recommended daily vitamin C requirement from watermelon. Make sure that berries like strawberries and blueberries are significantly represented in your superfoods diet because they are good sources of vitamin C and fiber. .

To enjoy eating your superfoods, you can make delicious combinations to improve their flavors. For example, if you have kidney beans, mix 1/4 cup of it with whole wheat pasta and fresh broccoli. Then, toss with a low-fat dressing and you have a cancer-fighting dinner

You may choose to have a tasty and colorful salad with green vegetables, red tomatoes and orange carrots. Strawberries and blueberries can be your finger food as well as dessert is mixed with low-fat yogurt.

It's easy to eat healthy and yet delicious "superfoods" and protect yourself from cancer.
